NoMo: It’s on the Map

What’s on the Map? Absolutely Beautiful Things! For those of you not yet familiar ( and even those of you who are) with NoMo, the peninsula’s latest outpost of all things hipster cool, this post is for you.

The name “NoMo”  is shorthand for ‘North of Morrison Avenue.’   Insiders know it used to be that NoMo was pretty much, an outer area of the Charleston peninsula that most folks just simply drove through. There wasn’t until recently, much to see and do there…

Well, hold on to your downtown Charleston-loving hats, because awesome shops and restaurants are dotting the proverbial NoMo map faster that you can pull over and check ’em out! So what’s on the map, you ask?

Hmmm… okay, So….. how many times have you driven by this outpost of affordable chic-ness on your way to somewhere else without stopping in?

Stop by and say hello to Liz, co-owner of the superbly curated Indigo Market.

Meet Liz, co-owner of the superbly curated Indigo Market and sole owner of that million watt smile!

Or, may we ask…  how many times have you driven by this attractive little building with the eye-catching robin’s-egg-blue-sign on Meeting Street, telling yourself perhaps one of these days you’re going to stop in and check it out too?…

How many times have you driven by this sign without stopping in?...

Hamilton Consignments, a friendly and inviting little antique and consignment shop is surprisingly affordable and home to some really, really great treasures.

Both Indigo Market and it’s friendly neighbor around the corner, Hamilton Consignments are two NoMo gems that Charleston Inside Out adores for all the right reasons…Why?

For starters, Hamilton Consignments is an antique lovers dream come true…( and we love antiques from Charleston!)

For those who love primitive decor and antique industrial chic, Hamilton Consignment will not disappoint.  We loved this surprisingly inexpensive antique cast iron cobbler’s shoe form.

And this. Yes this! You wouldn’t believe how affordable the price tag is on this stunningly beautiful piece…

Hamilton Antiques & Consignment has added a vintage and antiques furniture showroom. This gorgeous handpainted , distressed antique hope chest is only one of the many treasures back there!

This gorgeous hand painted antique hope chest is just one of the treasures we came across in Hamilton Consignments’ new furniture showroom out back.

If you are looking for cool pieces that have character…and if you love those vintage patinas…. yes, you guessed it…you can find it at Hamilton Consignments…

Sharon, owner of Hamilton Consignments makes it her mission to keep her prices affordable… prices that are really hard to resist…

So … when you do stop in to Hamilton Consignments, you’ll be delighted to find the owner Sharon to be one of those shop owners who is neither pushy or intrusive…she’s just lovely, plain and simple. As a matter of fact, if there’s something you have in mind and she doesn’t have it in her shop, chances are she will send you down the road to Indigo Market…another fab shop with an ultra cool-gotta-have-it- vintage-vibe:

Indigo Market, like Hamilton Consignments, is an interior designer’s dream come true with its effortless mix of old and new.

We also loved ( quite seriously) these handcrafted, very reasonably priced pendants at Indigo Market:

Whether it’s scented candles, handmade linens, mid-century modern accent furniture, one-of-a-kind- jewelry pieces and more…you can find some really beautiful things in NoMo these days…

These are just two of the really lovely businesses that are on the NoMo map…and BTW….Insiders also hear there are some sales going on this weekend over in NoMo… with fall in the air…a little treasure hunting and a little lunch at one of NoMo’s fab eateries, sounds like a righteous Saturday afternoon to us…See you  in the ‘hood!
