Food with a View: Lokal at Bohicket Marina

Whether it’s on an oceanfront, by a riverside, next to an inlet or marsh tributary, being able to have lunch at a waterside restaurant here in the Lowcountry is one of our very favorite summer pastimes. (heck, it’s great any time of year!) After all, who doesn’t love their food with a view?  So where can you find a restaurant that not only has great food, but that also celebrates a sense of place, and has an outstanding view?  Lokal at Bohicket Marina!

Bohicket Marina

Trust us, being able to chow down on a fresh, plump shrimp po’ boy while watching the tide gently slap the sides of pretty boats on a clear blue day in the middle of the business week, has a way of making you feel as though you haven’t a care in the world… you know… that  ‘vacationy-kind-of-feeling’ … We can never have enough of that!.. And by the way, for those that don’t know, Bohicket Marina is also home to a lovely little a quaint market, with decent parking and some sweet and welcoming little restaurants and shops…

It was practically empty when we walked into the restaurant around noon, but the place filled quickly with hungry diners shortly thereafter.

They have a great lunch menu.  Lokal does justice to some Lowcountry favorites: they totally rocked the shrimp po’ boy and the-build-your-own fish tacos were fresh, light and really tasty!

Insiders know that you can also always judge a place by the calibre of their waitstaff.  At Lokal, we don’t mind telling you,  the service was really perfect. Our waiter (Jonathan) was totally on top of his game….Unflappable & really pleasant. We loved, loved, loved his cool, deep voice…. well, that and the fact that he kept the sweet tea flowing for all… Thanks Jonathan!

Lokal offers indoor and outdoor seating… all of which allows for this rather serene view…

Bet these folks can really rock it for Sunday brunch too….

With Lokal as a Lowcountry brunch option, we think we know where we’re going to take our Sunday drive this weekend…
